Studio Catering: What to Expect on a UK Film Set

Studio shoots offer a controlled environment that many productions prefer, and the catering setup reflects that. At major UK studios, professional caterers operate fully equipped kitchens on-site, delivering meals that rival any restaurant in London.

When we arrive at a studio, we bring everything needed to run a professional kitchen. Commercial-grade cooking equipment, refrigeration, and serving stations are all part of the standard setup. We require on-site access to power, fresh water, and waste water drainage, but beyond that, we are entirely self-sufficient. The kitchen is typically operational before the crew arrives for their first call.

The day begins with a full breakfast spread from 06:30, followed by mid-morning refreshments around 10:00. Lunch is the centrepiece from 12:00: a three-course meal with multiple options, always including vegetarian, vegan, and allergen-free choices. A late break from 14:30 keeps energy levels up through the rest of the day. Every service is timed to your call sheet, not ours.

One of the biggest challenges on a multi-week studio shoot is keeping menus fresh and exciting. Our chefs create bespoke menus daily, drawing from seasonal ingredients and global cuisines. Across a six-week shoot, no meal is ever repeated. This is not just about variety. It is about giving the crew something to look forward to every single day.

Whether you are feeding a crew of 30 on a short film or 200 on a feature film, the standard of food and service remains identical. We scale our operation to match the production's size without compromising on quality.
